Being assigned as editor – my email question

    I have a free account using an email address. I’m being assigned as an editor at work. They tried to make me an editor using the same email address, but cannot get it to work. Do I need to give them a separate email address, or can it be the same?

    I’m not clear what you are asking.

    Are you being made an editor on another site? What is the site’s address?

    If the site is hosted on WordPress.com, they need to invite you using your username or email address as explained here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

    If it’s a site using the open source WordPress software, then your WordPress.com account has nothing to do with it. Those types of WordPress sites are not connected to WordPress.com in any way, and they’ll instead have to create a user account directly on that site with it’s own unique login credentials.

    In that case there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to use the same email address, but if that’s not working they’ll need to ask for help from the WordPress community at https://wordpress.org/support/, as we have no control over how those types of WordPress sites work – they’re something completely separate and different from WordPress.com.
