Blipfoto plugin

  Hi, I set up WordPress site so I could transfer all my journal entries from blipfoto using the ‘blipfoto importer’ plug-in. I saw the plugin on the WordPress.org site, but then read that plug-ins were not available on the WordPress.com site.

  I’m confused as to the difference and unsure how to progress. Thanks.

  Hi Amanda,

  Plugins like the Blipfoto importer plugin you saw can only be installed on self-hosted sites using the software from WordPress.org. WordPress.com doesn’t allow additional plugins to be installed, for security purposes. (You can learn more about WordPress.com v. WordPress.org if you’re curious about those differences.)

  WordPress.com only has importers for the services listed under Tools > Import in your site’s WP Admin dashboard. One option is to import your Blipfoto content into a WordPress.org site or one of the other services listed on that import page. Then, you can export the content from there and import it into your WordPress.com site here.

  Thanks so much for the explanation. I didn’t realise the distinction between the two sites and the implications. Will follow your advice to be able to use the plug-in. Many thanks.
