Blocking User

We have a family blog and I noticed that we’ve received ‘likes’ from someone we don’t know, is there a way to block a user/account?

  • Hi there,

If your site is public anyone with internet access can view it, and anyone with a WordPress.com username account can follow it or like your posts. There is no way to prevent specific people from accessing a public site.

The only way to control who can access your site is to set it to private. Then only people you specifically invite will be able to see it. This does require them to have their own WordPress.com accounts, though.

    Privacy Settings

Another option is to password protect your posts. I’ve done this on the site I created to share pictures of my kid with the extended family. I password protect every post and only share the password with the people I want to be able to view the posts, but the site itself is not set to private so my less tech-savvy relatives don’t have to go through the whole process of setting up an account to be able to view the posts.
