  Hi there, have you tried creating a new site while logged in? Head for this link: https://wordpress.com/start/site-type and select Business to use a .wordpress.com subdomain address or Blog if you’d like to use one of the many available .blog subdomains

  At the step where it asks you to choose a domain, make sure to type out the entire address you want to register (as an example: mysite.wordpress.com or mysite.family.blog) and if it is available, you’ll be given that choice. The free site address usually appears right below the top two suggested custom domains.
