Blog deleted without confirming email

  • Unknown's avatar

The following discussion quoted from the Staff Answers forum refers.

I deleted a blog site, but was never sent an email for confirmation.

(It no longer appears on the Dashboard, and I was able, contrary to )

    Is the blog really gone?

    I _would_ like it back!

And is it absolutely true that a truly deleted blog cannot be recovered by any means?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Our system requires a confirmation link to be clicked before the blog is deleted. What is the URL of the blog in question?

newtopoblog.wordpress.com — which is actually there, but is the one I RE-created after what I though was a deletion. It does not have any of the appearance or content of the original blog, and looks just like a new blog. The original blog may have had different capitalization (NewTopoBlog). I can’t tell whether the unique-name policy is case-sensitive or not.

Oh, and I see I did not quote the post I saw that discussed this. Below sig now.

    Thanks. M<

I’d like to restore or recover some blogs that I regret deleting. Is there a way to have that done? Please advise.

I’m sorry, but deleted blogs cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a blog is permanent and the name cannot be used again. There are several warnings about this on the Tools -> Delete Site page and in the help pages, and you are required to confirm the deletion by email.

    Delete Blog

You can start a new blog by logging in to WordPress.com and then going to http://en.wordpress.com/signup/

With any blog, you can also use your custom domain with Domain Mapping upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

When you go to the Posts section of your blog’s Dashboard, there are a few links to the top of the post list, including Drafts (if any) and Trash.

As long as you didn’t empty your trash, the deleted posts should be in the Trash section. If you did empty it, they’re definitely gone forever.

  • According to our logs, http://newtopoblog.wordpress.com/ was registered September 29, 2008, and absolutely nothing was done with the blog since.

Are you sure this is the blog you’re referring to?

Actually, none of the blogs on your account show any activity since they were opened. Perhaps you’re logged in under the wrong account?

Macmanx (sounds like a cross between a computer and a cat) … thanks very much for that, looks as if I’ve confused the wordpress.com blog with another one, and deleted the other one. Oops. Very sorry to have blagged on about my own stupidity. Thanks very much for the help. WordPress rocks.
