Blog downloads

Firefox can’t read exported XML. I get the following:

“XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace
    Location: file:///C:/Writings/blog/archive/analogy%20and%20metaphor/analogyandmetaphor.wordpress.2012-11-06.xml
    Line Number 293, Column 2: <atom:link rel=”search” type=”application/opensearchdescription+xml” href=”http://analogyandmetaphor.wordpress.com/osd.xml” title=”Analogy and Metaphor” />”
    ——–^

Could be a Firefox problem but IE doesn’t give good results, either – no post text.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – could you please let me know what you’re trying to do? XML files aren’t meant to be loaded directly in a browser like that.

Are you trying to import your XML into another site?

I just want to see what’s saved off. It worked with the old Blogger export, that is, all the tags, etc were displayed but so was the post text. But since Google took that over I became disgusted with the new interface and switched to WordPress.

I had tried WordPress years ago and must say it is much improved since then.

  • The XML export file isn’t meant to be read directly within a web browser, since it’s not formatted for human reading, so that may account for the XML warnings you’re seeing.

If you need any help with something specific, just let me know and I’ll be very glad to assist further.
