  I get “Sorry this site is reserved” and in reality the page does not exist when I type it in the URL. I am looking into getting a blog name I am certain no one uses because I have been using a unique name for years now and never once was the name taken.

  You have told us what the blog URL is not, but haven’t told us what the blog URL is that you want. Usually though if a site is reserved it means that someone has the Username, and the blog name is therefore reserved for them. Don’t be fooled by believing names are unique!
