Blog ownership question
-
PersonA wants to create a http://desiredname.wordpress.com/ blog, has the WP userid PersonA, and accepts the assistance of PersonB (who has WP userid PersonB) in creating the “desiredname” blog. PersonB creates the blog while logged on as PersonB. PersonB has granted PersonA Administrator rights to the blog, but PersonB owns the blog and can transfer it or delete it at will. PersonA wants to own the “desiredname” blog. Is it correct that the only way to achieve this is for PersonB to agree to use the “Transfer Blog” function w/in the Dashboard?

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register a blog it’s registered to that username account we are logged in under and to the email address which is our unique identifier. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. We can change our “display name” but that display name will appear on all blogs registered under the same username account.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/#change-display-name-nicknameIn order to completely separate the blogs that you do not want to be associated with each other you register another username account using a different email address when you are logged out of WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then you add the new username account as an official user of the blog, and designate them (ie. you) as an Admin. Next you transfer one of the blogs to the new username account using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Thank you for the response timethief. To clarify my question, PersonA and PersonB are distinct userids and human beings, not two userids registered by the same person. So, the only way for PersonA to be the registered owner (not just an Administrator) of a blog created by PersonB, is for PersonB to transfer the blog to PersonA. Is that right? Thanks.

That’s correct. And then you’ll need staff intervention to delete PersonB if they don’t wnat to be part of the blog.

I’m bored and procrastinating, so I usually go back six pages when I start answering questions.
