  How do i get the blog posts to show as newest at the top? what am i doing wrong?

  The first post on your site has been set as a sticky/featured. Featured posts are designed to always remain at the top of a site. People often use them if they want to have an introduction about themselves/what their site is about that visitors will always see first. You can edit that post with these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
