blog post page to show full posts – how?
-
I seem to be going around in circles on this blog setup. What I want to do:
1) Have a static About-Home page that describes some stuff about site. This I do.
2) Have a static Ancestors page that will describe stuff and will link to posts. This I do.
3) Have a Posts page that will display all my blog posts, 10 at a time, full text. This I can’t do.According to the WP support pages, going to Settings>Reading will allow for ‘homepage’ to show latest posts in full text.
According to WP support, Appearance>Customize>Homepage Settings allows you to set your ‘homepage.’ When I go there I get two options (if I’m remembering correctly):
-You can either choose which of your published pages is to be your ‘homepage.’ I want it to be what I’ve called Posts. However, to pick and chose a page you’re only presented the STATIC page option.
-The LATEST POSTS choice gives me NO option to chose from the published pages. I can’t seem to reconcile this. What currently exists for my ‘homepage’ I did not choose! WP chose it for me and I see no way to change it.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks for the input. I’m familiar with the Homepage Settings. If I set it as you describe then what I see on what was before a blank page is now something like a Blog Post block of post excerpts in tiles. This is not what I want. I’d prefer to have, as I said above, the full posts, 10 to a page, with a load more key at bottom. I thought I’d be able to do this on the Settings>Readings page but can’t.
Here’s a link to something I’m after. I’d just like to rename the page titles in the menus to:
Home would be my Posts.
About would be my About-Home.
The Ancestors would be my Ancestors.

Then you need to set your home page to display your latest posts and add everything else to your main menu. You can read more on how to organize your site’s menu here:

What are you saying, except go read the directions? In a few brief sentences you’ve gotten me more confused then when I started.
So are you saying that the only way to have a Page display posts with full text you must call it your home page?
When you say home page are you referring to front page? https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/
I don’t want a front page. I want all pages to appear in menu. I’ve changed my “homepage settings” in the customizer to show my latest posts. What I see now when I “visit site” from dashboard is what I believe people call a front page which shows my posts, again in shortened tile format–correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t want either, neither a tile format nor a front page separate from the ones I’ve called out in menu.
If there is some other way to label a page a “home page” so that I can have my posts appear on it, as is done in the referenced blog above, then please tell me.
Just a note: In the Menus support page “home page” is not used once.

Hi sammy60712,
You can add a “Blog Posts” block to the page, where you wanted the posts.
Thanks
