Blog post titles and can't edit Post Page
-
Hi there all,
I recently changed my theme on my site and now that theme only wants to use a massive long blog roll.
I created a new blog page called “stories to change your world” set it up the way I like, but the titles are missing outside of the editor. If anyone views the page they have to go by the image or the excerpt.
Also, when I tell WordPress I want to use the new blog page (because I can’t edit the default blog page) as the Post Page, it resets my blog page back to the massive blog roll again, then I just hope I have another tab open where I have my new blog page in edit mode so I can update, but I have to change the Post Page back to Blog. I have even removed the Blog page from my pages.
I’m guessing this is a theme issue, so I have posted it there. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog page is a virtual page, so it can’t be edited itself.
If you prefer this theme, I recommend creating a static front page https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/ and using the Blog Posts block for more control: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/blog-posts-block/

Thanks macmanx for a quick response.
I did have a read of the links you provided –
My home page is already set to static and I have created a new blog page to replace the “Blog” page that can’t be edited. The problem is when I change the setting so the new blog page is set to the Post Page (I don’t know if that change is needed), it turns my new blog page back into the fixed blog roll or as you said the virtual page.
I’m still missing the titles on my blogs.
I don’t know how your suggestion helps over what I have done, but I’m happy to be told I haven’t done something correctly. -
Hm, if you’re referring to https://leebreeze.com/blog/ I can see the titles just fine, like these two: https://d.pr/i/E8XfYd and https://d.pr/i/NTyXF1
If that’s not what you’re seeing, first please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I had to change the name of my blog page to https://leebreeze.com/stories-to-change-your-world/ because the default /blog kept over-riding with the one massive page when I changed “/stories-to…” to /blog.
I don’t like reading blog pages that keep scrolling from last post to first post, so I don’t want to force that on my readers.
when you have a look at /stories-to change-your-world, you will notice there are no titles on the posts like you showed me in those links.
I hope that helps to describe the situation better -

That’s because you have a page with the page slug of
blog– you can’t have two pages using the same name.when you have a look at /stories-to change-your-world, you will notice there are no titles on the posts like you showed me in those links.
Thanks for clarifying. It looks like the CSS in your Additional CSS settings is hiding those post titles on the Blog Posts block as they use the same
.entry-titleCSS.If you remove those two CSS settings, your post titles will display properly.
Let us know if you have any questions or need help with anything else.

Hi. Your new blog page is probably preferable to the default blog page regarding customizability, but I’d like to point out a few things regarding customization options on the default blog page, the one that displays all posts in reverse-chronological order.
The page you’ve assigned as your posts (or blog) page at Customize > Homepage Settings is https://leebreeze.com/blog/. It’s not displaying every post on one page, as it would be if infinite scroll were enabled. Instead it’s presently displaying 10 posts per page, which is the default number. This number can be easily changed. You may change the number of posts per page displayed on the blog and archive pages as described in the Content Types section of the Writing Settings support page, or as described in the Blog Pages Show At Most section of the Reading Settings support page.
You may also display abbreviated post content on the blog and archive pages by inserting the More Block into individual posts.
So, for example, you could have this blog page display three or four posts per page, with only a small portion of the content of each post displayed there.

Thank you very much for your help.
thanks for the last tips you provided, but I think I’m going to stick with the page I built.
I have the titles back and kept the CSS to hide “Home” from the home page.
.page-id-2 .entry-title {
display: none;
}I think you have answered all the troubles I had, besides one last question that may or may not be a future problem – Do I need to set my new blog page to ‘Post Page’ for any reason?
Thank you very much

Hi there,
To be sure I understand, this is your preferred blog page, yes? https://leebreeze.com/stories-to-change-your-world/
If so then I would not set that to the Post Page, as this will cause the theme to replace your manual page layout with the default single column view this theme uses instead.
I think if you are happy with how https://leebreeze.com/stories-to-change-your-world/ looks, you can just delete the old “blog” page as you will not be needing it.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
Thank you for answering that last question.
I don’t know how to delete a page that only has view as an option. I will just leave it there. Thanks
