    Hello,

    1. What happens to previous blog post comments if I want to republish (if the comment is from 2014, but I republishe with a 2016 publish date)
    2. Does changing the post date help for blog posts in any way?

Please let me know. If possible, please forward the response to this to (email visible only to moderators and staff) as well.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    Hi @fingerprintmarketing,

The comments will stay the same.

Let us know what you’re trying to do by re-publishing and we’ll let you know whether changing the date will help with that.

Generally, though, I wouldn’t change the date though, and here’s why: if you change the date on a popular post, its link will include the new date. Anyone who was linking to the old date, including search engines, will get a broken page if you change the date.

You might consider writing a new article and quoting part of the old one instead, as well as linking to the old article.

    I hope that helps!
