blog subscription snafus

My blog subscription link sends an error message when people confirm in their email. Says it’s not active or maybe the link expired. Any idea how to resolve this?

Perhaps the question that I’m asking is this. Does one need to be signed in to WP to subscribe to a blog? Is there a way to allow people not signed, or not WP members to subscribe to follow a blog. Thanks for your help.

Anyone should be able to sign up to follow your blog using the Follow Blog widget included in the Jetpack plugin, but I don’t see that widget anywhere on your site. How exactly are people signing up that leads to them seeing that error?
To add the Follow Blog widget, go to Appearance ->Widgets in your site’s WP-Admin dashboard, or to the Customizer in the WordPress.com interface, and search for the widget there.

Thank you for your help, I’m new to WP. I don’t have a “Follow Blog” widget in my jetpack plugin. I have a subscribe to blog widget I’m using which shows up when you click to read a full post. That is where people currently would add their email.
It seems like when I choose that people have to be signed in to WP to make a comment, then people on WP can’t subscribe to the blog by email. Wonder why I don’t have that plug in…

If you have Jetpack installed you should have that widget. Unless you’ve changed the URLs of your site’s dashboard, you’ll find it on this page:

The widget you currently have is a MailChimp widget, which allows people to sign up to your MailChimp mailing list, but not to follow your site in the WordPress.com Reader or via our notification emails.
