Blog transfer help

    I started to set up a blog yesterday using the free WordPress service and then today I found some advice that said I should use a hosted platform for WordPress (so I paid) and now I think it keeps taking me to the old version because when I try to do things it won’t let me! I am following another blog that shows you how to set up a blog and her screen shots have pictures of a dashboard with options like JetPack, etc. Yet, my dashboard doesn’t have any of these options. I am really confused and am afraid I somehow messed this up.

    What, exactly, did you pay? Whom did you pay?

    What is the old URL? What is the new URL?

    The blog you are reading is clearly talking about a WordPress.org blog, not a WordPress.com blog.
