Blogger import

  Hello! I am brand new to WordPress. I have imported my Blogger backup and I don’t know how to get my imported posts and such to show up on my new WordPress. I will upgrade to a paid WordPress site. I just want to make sure it’s possible to simply click my Blogger imports and make them active on my WordPress. A little nervous. I don’t want to lose everything I built on Blogger. Do I have to connect my domain before my Blogger imports show up on my WordPress?

  Also, to clarify, are you moving the site here, or hoping to keep the site at Blogger with a clone on our servers?

  Thank you for responding Supernovia. I logged out and back in and my import was showing fine. I don’t know what was going on.
  I am in the process of getting everything set up and want to move my .com over to WordPress. My side bar on Blogger didn’t export or import. I don’t know which but it’s not anywhere on WordPress so I having to manually load all that information.
  I plan on shutting my Blogger account down once I have everything in place.

  Hi Brenda,

  My side bar on Blogger didn’t export or import. I don’t know which but it’s not anywhere on WordPress so I having to manually load all that information.

  That can’t be migrated, no. The export file you got from Blogger only contains your site content, i.e. post, pages, and comments.

  A sidebar is not considered part of your site’s content, but part of the theme, and anything you add there are theme customizations, and not included in the export file. If you later exported your content from us, sidebar widgets wouldn’t be included in our export file either.

  You’ll need to manually set up those widgets, or rather, their nearest equivalent on your WordPress.com site.
