  I just registered with Bluehost and was under the impression that WordPress was linked to Bluehost… Do I not need both to start a blog?

  WordPress is the name of the open source software made by the community of volunteers on WordPress.org.

  Bluehost is a hosting provider for that software, as is WordPress.com.

  If you signed up for hosting with Bluehost, your site has nothing to do with us on WordPress.com. In that case you need to follow Bluehost’s process for installing the WordPress software on your hosting plan on their servers. Please contact their support directly for help with that.

  You can find the documentation for the WordPress software you’ll be using at Bluehost at https://wordpress.org/support/, and help with that software is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
