Do you know why I keep receiving e-mails from Blue Host saying that if I don’t pay them my renewal fee that my domain will be terminated, etc?
I am confused.

I’m seeing that your domain is registered through WordPress.com. But your site itself seems to be hosted through bluehost. Are you sure that the emails aren’t for your yearly bluehost hosting fees?

Thank you, Rootjosh, for replying. I bet the e-mails form Bluehost ARE for hosting fees, but I don’t know what hosting fees are and why I need them.

Hosting fees are a payment to a webhost (like bluehost) for having space on the internet for your site to exist. Think of it like an internet hard-drive that holds your website so that everyone can access it.

WordPress.com doesn’t offer webhosting in the same way as a host like bluehost does. It doesn’t cost anything to have a WordPress.com site itself. We do charge for various upgrades, but not for the site itself. You have purchased domain registration through us. Domain registration is something that needs to be renewed every year no matter where you purchased your domain.

What’s confusing to me is that the guy who created my website and registered it for me told me that the only reason Blue Host was contacting me was because they want my business and that because I have WordPress.org (not dot com) that I don’t need to pay Blue Host and I didn’t pay them anything last year. So who is “hosting” my domain? -
Your web guy seems confused.
WordPress.org sites are self-hosted and require a webhost (such as bluehost).
