Bombarded by Comments

  I have been subjected to 10’s of thousands of comments on a blog I manage. The messages are spam ads for a variety of items. Many appear to come from Russian urls. I don’t accept the comments for publication, but their notifications are overwhelming my email account. Is there a way to stop it?

  I don’t see any recent comments on the site you’ve listed.

  What is the URL of the site you’re referring to?

  Thanks for responding.

  The comments were in the moderation queue for the ‘About’ section—we have not accepted them, but received over 20,000 email notifications to go moderate the comments. I deleted and re-built that page to get rid of the queue.

  Thanks. That site is hosted by GoDaddy not WordPress.com. This means you’re set up with the open source WordPress.org software. Help for that comes from https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
