Bookpress

I want to use BookPress. Am I right in seeing that to use this I have to pay for either WordPress first or BookPress alone? I also want to just develop the site interactively with a few people who will know the name. Therefor I thought maybe my old undeveloped blog would have been fine if I could have used Bookpress under that name. Can I scrap that blog under my email address? Or are there multiple options if I end up paying for development in bookpress?

Bookpress is a third party plugin. To use plugins on wordpress.com, you must upgrade to the Business Plan, https://wordpress.com/pricing/.
If you want to use the premium version of Bookpress, you must paid them also.

Okay, so basically if you pretty well give your book away for free for reading in blog posts that’s considered a good business model? You pay for a business plan to almost give your book away. Is there anyone to speak to about that, the plan should be priced as a premium plan, not a business plan?

You are trying to start a semantic discussion. The different wordpress.com plans all have different features, https://wordpress.com/pricing/. If you want to use a third party plugin you must upgrade to the Business Plan as that’s the only plan that allows the use of third party plugins and themes.
