Bought a domain then requested a refund. Domain deleted forever?

Hi, i just purchased a domain using wordpress.com and got a refund within 12 hours later. Does that now mean the domain i created cannot be created ever again? Even on different hosting sites? Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok so this is what i read before i cancelled my domain within 48 hours. (NOT deleted)

“If you notify us within two days of purchase you may completely cancel a domain name purchased through WordPress.com. After cancellation, there is no guarantee that the domain will become available to register somewhere else. You may not be able to get it back.

To cancel a domain you registered with WordPress.com, please log into your account, then go to Store → Domains and use the Domain Administration section at the bottom of the page.”

But i thought they meant by “After cancellation, there is no guarantee that the domain will become available to register somewhere else. You may not be able to get it back.” they were implying that someone else now can take it since it is now available again. That way i was going to quickly switch to a different hosting site but it hasn’t become available yet…maybe it takes a couple more days?

Sorry for writing a lot, i just should have hired someone for this x.x

If you registered a domain name such as enzoniack.com – then canceled the registration your domain name will be released by the registrar but there is no set time for the release – it can be as short as a few weeks and up to 90 days or so for the name to be released into the wild where someone can register it again.

The domain name is not gone but there is no guarantee that you can get it again – there is a whole industry that buys domain names that expire (or have never been used at all) and squat on them and hold them hostage for resale.

If you had a blog here such as enzoniack.wordpress.com and deleted the name it is gone forever even from you.

ok thank you so much, i will wait. since there is no actual way to know when it is released, i can just keep trying on different hosting sites until it says “Available” instead of “Taken” or is there anyway wordpress could notify me?

There is no process for WP.com to notify someone a domain name is up for grabs again.

I understand that, but my question is, now that the domain is up for grabs or at least it will be soon right? I just want to know if its best for me to keep checking every couple hours or daily to see if it’s back available because from what i understood from auxclass was that even though i cancelled my domain name from wordpress.com it should become available again, it’s not deleted forever. (i hope)

Yes! just registered my domain on another hosting site, it took about 2 days to become available again in case anyone else is curious to know in the future.

thanks a lot for the responses, really appreciated the help/feedback. =)
