Broken Gutenberg editor and admin state on WordPress.com site
-
Hello WordPress.com Support,
My site (andrewwalton.com.au) became unstable after I accidentally deleted the homepage. Sorry!
Working with ChatGPT, it tells me I am experiencing the Current behaviour:
- Public frontend still loads correctly
- Customizer works normally
- wp-admin shell and Themes page work
- Theme switching works (switched from Enroute to Livro)
- Gutenberg/page editor globally fails to load (blank black screen even for brand-new pages)
- Site Editor produces recursive/tiled rendering or blank screens
- WordPress.com Home/dashboard/plan pages often load blank or partially render
- Plugin-related pages and install/search flows are unstable or broken
- Support/contact pages themselves are failing to render correctly
- This persists across browsers and devices
ChatGPT claims it has isolated the issue to the Gutenberg/block editor/admin layer rather than the frontend website itself.
Could you please have a look and, if this is the case:
- reset/repair Gutenberg and Site Editor state
- clear corrupted editor/template cache
- investigate plugin/editor conflicts
- restore homepage/template associations if needed
- and restore reliable editor/plugin functionality
Kind regards,
