Broken Post Feed

  • Unknown's avatar

from the administrator of the Alexandria blog [http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com/] (whose posts to the forum are *instantaneously* closed when he enters them:

    My main posts feed

    http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com/feed/

is broken or corrupted just enough that it no longer updates properly for a number of my Authors.

W3C reports the above feed not to be a valid feed.

    My comments feed. however,

    http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com/comments/feed/

updates properly as usual, W3C reports this feed to be a valid feed.

I have contacted Support to fix what I am assuming is simply some sandomly broken or corrupted code, but am I actually assessing this correctly?

Is this in fact an easy fix for Support to effect, or could there be some other problem, in particular, something that I could do to make my posts feed report as a valid feed?

    Thanks,

    HMS

I’m afraid the feed looks just fine to me. Perhaps staff have already fixed it.

In general when there is an issue with feed validation, it is a problem in a post that causes it.

Go to settings > writing in your blog and select to have WordPress correct invalidly nested XHTML and then click save. Now beginning with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it and then update the post. Check your feed validation after that (I would suggest waiting for 5 minutes before checking to make sure the feed has updated). If the feed validates, you are good to go. If not, open the next older post and do the same thing. Keep going until the feed validates.

That change should keep this from happening in the future.

    The important stuff:

Your web server [xxxxxx] is working fine.
Your blog page content type is text/xml, not HTML or XHTML.
    Your page doesn’t include a <html> element.
Your blog doesn’t advertise an XML feed. Are you sure it’s a blog?
Your robots.txt file is valid and allows search engines to index your content.
Your blog is not indexed by Google.

Your front page is 284 KB long. Consider reducing the number of posts on the front page so it loads faster.

You feed does not validate. http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Faleksandreia.wordpress.com%2Ffeed%2F
