bug

Hi, I have a message saying there is a critical error with my website. There’s no email link. I can’t access the cpanel as the username and passwords I’ve noted as correct are not being accepted so I am stuck. Please can you help. Thank you!

  • Hey there, these are actually the forums for free sites hosted by WordPress.com, but we can probably point you in the right direction:

    – First, work with your host to get cPanel access and get a current backup.

    – If you’re missing the email with details, I’d recommend contacting your host for that as well. They can check the server to see if the email is stuck.

    – One more thing with your host: they should be able to help you check error logs and restore a recent backup if you have one. Note there are other backup services, too; if you’re using something like Jetpack Backup, you could restore through that instead.

    – If this happened with a recent theme or plugin update or install, your host can help you remove just that one plugin or theme through their interface if needed.

    – This guide can help, too: https://wordpress.org/support/article/common-wordpress-errors/

Going forward, here are a few tips on finding help with your WordPress installation: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/#word-press-org-support

    Hoping this helps!
