Building a site ‘offline’

  Hi there! I’m looking to build out a wordpress site, however I currently have it hosted elsewhere, I would like to build the site offline and then go live when I’m done but it looks to me like I have to transfer to domain prior to do any work. Any help you could provide would be appreciated!

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  This is not the case.

  You’re able to build a site with WordPress.com under a temporary domain, for instance http://soundstudiosnyc.wordpress.com

  When ready, you can then connect the domain from the old host as per: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
