I was merely looking at if ‘wordpress’ was for me, i have never built a website before, with the current times i am looking at offering my courses on line – distant learning! I already feel over whelmed, so i can’t find out any more until i sign up, sign up and i am already feeling forced to bring my existing domain name to wordpress before i can even decide if this ids for me, confused, confused or what??!

Not to worry, there are many ways of figuring out if WordPress (and/or WordPress.com) is for you.
First off, do be aware that WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) are related, but separate entities:

And any paid plan on WordPress.com can be refunded within 30 days. So feel to purchase and then cancel if you find it isn’t right for you. Do be aware that domain registrations are not refundable past 48 hours. So it might be best to test without a custom domain until you are sure that WordPress.com will work for you.
