    I don’t want a blog
    I have content for a home page with photos and text all ready to add. However I need help to add this in as I am finding this so user hostile.

    You can definitely create a website on WordPress.com. Will it be just a one-page site? If so, we have many themes with ready templates that you can choose and replace with your own content:
