buying a new domain

  i am about to buy a domain but it seems like the system wants to apply the new domain name to the free unrelated blog i have. How do I be sure this will not happen. About to check out

  If you want to buy a domain only for use with a site somewhere else, you can do that by going here:

  https://wordpress.com/domains/

  Register a Domain Without Creating a Site

  If you mean you want to register a domain to use with a new WordPress.com site, not http://joegiuliani.wordpress.com/ which you already own, you’ll have to create the new site first.

  Go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and follow the steps which will include a step to register a new domain for the new site.
