    Hello everyone,

    I find myself since a few days in a situation to which I do not find answers. I bought a domain name on wordpress.com (at the same time as a subscription for a personal plan), before going back on my decision and canceling this subscription and the purchase of the domain name (which was confirmed by email by wordpress.com) in the same day, wanting to go through wordpress.org and therefore another site to buy and host my domain name.

    My problem is that the domain name I bought on wordpress.com is still not available more than 10 days after it was deleted. And according to the information on the site infomaniak.com about this domain name, it was created exactly the same day and time as when I had bought it : this means that the domain name still belong to me even if it should not be the case anymore.

    Have any of you ever been in a similar situation or would you know how to remedy this problem?

    If you’re wanting to use your domain at a different host, you should never cancel it at your current host – once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

    If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site
