can contributors comment on other posts

  Hi there,

  I’m an instructor using WordPress for a class blog. I have given the students access as a ‘Contributor’, meaning that they can comment on the class blog/post that I have made. As part of their assignment, they must comment on others’ comments from the class blog. My question is this, is a contributor allowed to comment on other user’s posts?

  Hi,
  Yes, but it not necessary to have a user role to comment on posts. Contributor is a user role, and all users must have WordPress.com accounts. However, any WordPress.com member may comment on a post, page, image, etc. whether or not he or she has been assigned a user role.
