Can I ask something about the server on WordPress?

    Hi,

    I’m thinking running a company website on WordPress, and buy the Business version for it. But I’m not sure if I need to buy my own server, or will you provide one for me.

    If the server is provided on your side, would you please share with me:

    1) Where the server is? Or can we choose a location?

    2) What’s the configuration of the server? Its bandwidth, its storage space, etc.

    3) Do we have access to the server?

    Hi there, There is no dedicated server when using WordPress.com as your hosting. Let me start from your last question first:

    3 WordPress.com users do not have direct access to servers regardless of plan.

    2 Business plan users https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/ have unlimited storage and all plans have unlimited bandwidth.

    1 Server location cannot be determined by the user.

    WordPress comes in 2 flavors: the fully hosted WordPressdotcom (where we are) and the open source WordPress (org) project at https://wordpress.org.     Thanks for the reply.

    I guess we should go with the WordPress.com Business Plan from the links you sent.

    But I have two more questions though, in the Business Plan:

    1) Can I make any changes i want to the theme? In the HTML or CSS level?

    2) Where the server would be located?

    Hello again, Business plan users can upload custom themes and plugins, can edit the site CSS, but to the best of my knowledge will not have access to the underlying theme HTML or PHP.

    Concerning servers, WordPress.com has servers worldwide according to this support guide, but I’ve also tagged this thread for Staff assistance in addressing your questions. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

    Hi @easybreezycom, although the process is a bit complex, you can actually create a Child Theme with the Business plan, but to effectively make changes to the themes, requires a good knowledge of PHP scripting, and in some instances, JavaScript.
