Can I buy the domain only?

  Apparently, WordPress allows for me to buy a domain without a plan. How does that work? I’ll have the domain but the features are free? Or will it prompt me to get a plan, right after purchase?

  When you buy a plan, you get your custom domain free for the first year but you still have to pay for the plan itself.
