Can I create a username from a URL?

Hi – I hope you can help. After creating a new blog with a URL, is it possible to then create a new user using the URL? Of course creating the URL makes the username unavailable – but is it possible to create a user profile from the address I have already created?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

After creating a new blog with a URL, is it possible to then create a new user using the URL?

I believe so. Because if the name in the URL (for example “jonhildrew”) was not already a username, and the website was created in another account, then the username would be reserved for the creator/owner of the website containing that name. At least that is my understanding bases on comments by kokkieh in the recent topic “Sorry this site is reserved.” According to kokkieh,

When you register a URL the matching username is reserved for you. You won’t be able to create a new account with that username, but you should be able to change your existing username to that one, but be aware that doing that will delete your current username and you’ll never be able to register or change to it again.
