Can I download my entire blog to my desktop

  I want to archive my entire blog and keep a back up on my computer. Preferably in some kind of format that is legible and keeps the pictures with it. Is this possible? I don’t just want some XML file to import to another blog.

  You can create an XML export file but you cannot open it in anything other that a plain text editor or you will corrupt the file. If what you are imagining is seeing the same thing on your desktop as you do on your blog then that’s not possible.

  You can install WordPress.ORG on your desktop as a local install and import your blog to your desktop. The pictures should be able to be moved to your local install on your desktop –

  However you will need to get help at WordPress.ORG for the install and do some extra homework – we don’t give help here for local installs and it is work – I did it a couple of years back and had to do a lot of research –
