Can i have widgets without a sidebar?

    Hi!
    I’m currently trying to set up a travel-blog for friends and family to follow while I’m away. I want the design to be as simple as possible (so I chose the ‘truly minimal’ theme), and with big pictures as the dominating feature. I’d really like to have the category and date – widgets as well, but to get them I have to activate the sidebar. This is very unfortunate, since the pictures then become a lot smaller, due to the size of the sidebar. Is there any way I can get to not have a sidebar, but still have those two widgets somewhere on the page? Maybe at the top of the page like the site-menu?
    – Is the solution perhaps picking another simple theme that I haven’t found yet, or do all the themes have to have their widgets in the sides?

    Widgets can be installed only in sidebars or in footer areas for widgets and not anywhere else.

    The solution is to pick a theme with a footer widget area.
