Can I "redirect" email to my own domain?

    I am not finding the support for email setup really clear.

    A blog I help with, blog healingmen.wordpress.com is redirected to the domain healingmen.com, Currently email for the blog is redirected from inside WordPress to a personal email address.

    Will he following structure work for email?
    (1) I pay the domain registrar of healingmen.com to set up email on this domain ie as if the domain was not hosted as a web address, but just had email.
    (2) Then – this is the bit that puzzles me – where email is currently redirected from inside WordPress to a personal email, do I then redirect it to eg (email visible only to moderators and staff)?

    Or does that go round in a circle? Or do I do something with the MX records? And if so, do I do the MX records inside WordPress, or inside the registrar’s control panel?

    I am confused!

    You’ve got two email options for using a custom domain at WordPress.com:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

    &

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/

    Yes, I’ve read these pages already, they are exactly what I do not find clear.

    The first link refers to “an email hosting account”. The first thing I am trying to get completely clear about is, does this include email set up by my domain registrar on the actual domain which the blog is using, ie in this case http://www.healingmen.com?

    You know what might be easier would be to talk to your domain registrar and instead of using nameservers to point the domain to WordPress.com, you could have them set up an A Record via an IP address. Then all email could just be done through your registrar.

    I can help you with that if it is the path you want to take. I would need to provide the IP addresses for them to use.

    But in general:

    If you are mapping an externally registered domain here using nameservers, you will need to ask your registrar for a set of MX records so that any email addressed to the domain name (i.e. (email visible only to moderators and staff)) will be pointed back to the registrar and their email system.

    And yes, I agree, email setup is confusing.
