Can I redirect wordpress.com to hosted wordpress.org “subdomain”?

    Hullo,

I’d like to redirect a blog.wordpress.com to a wordpress.org blog hosted on my own domain.

So I have to use the domain mapping workaround: but, can I redirect it to a subdomain (domain.com/blog)? And will my wordpress.org blog be free of the “Terms of Service” that normally bind a domain mapped or wordpress.com blog?

Also, I’d be doing this simply because I want the blog.wordpress.com “name.” Is that stupid? My domain name is kinda long, and I want to create several blogs with short, meaningful names that I can hand out to people and have it make sense easily. However, I want to host the content on my own domain because of the flexibility.

    thanks!

Someone very, very strident once asserted that it is possible, but staff doesn’t encourage it and they certainly won’t give you instructions for it.

What you CAN do is buy the Domain Upgrade (in the FAQ), which means that you change the URL of the blog but nothing else at all changes and you’re still hosted here.

If you don’t want to be hosted here, see my first paragraph. Blogs not hosted at WP.com are not bound by the restrictions of WP.com. But unless you can figure out how to do the redirect, you’re hooped.
