Can I start without knowing the domain name yet?

    Hi,
    I need to build a website for a foundation that we will create in cooperation with the foundation in US. I would like to start building it, but I don’t know yet, what the domain name will be or what exactly all detailed requirements will be.

    Is there a way to start already and add the final domain later? It doesn’t need to be online yet either.

    But I thought I asked what the best way would be instead of starting e.g. in the ‘free ‘blog’ version’ and then not being able to change it to a upgrade version.

    Hi there,

    If you are referring to a custom domain, then yes, you can start building the site without having a custom domain connected. Once you are at the point where you want a custom domain, you can register one and connect it with your site.

    If you are referring to a WordPress.com URL, you have to have one before creating a site. Each site with WordPress.com has a unique URL that helps identify the site. You can always change the URL if you decide on a more suitable name of the site down the road, but you will be asked for the name of the URL while creating and new WordPress.com site.
