Can I transfer a domain outside of WordPress to WordPress?

  I have rights to the domain name “PhillyOST.org” via another hosting site (hostgator.com). My communications team acquired the name, and wants to transfer it from hostgator to WordPress because it was having significant trouble uploading the page. We have the WordPress Premium plan, and we get a free domain with that. We would like to transfer PhillyOST.org from hostgator to WordPress.

  Is that possible? If so, please be in touch with appropriate steps

  While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain (this is also included in WordPress.com Premium so you wouldn’t have to purchase a Domain Mapping upgrade), as explained here:
