Can I transfer my domain after I start building my website?

  I purchased my domain 54 days ago from GoDaddy. Through unforeseen circumstances I am now having to build my own website to launch on time. Can I go ahead and start building my website and then transfer my domain to wordpress later?

  Hi there,

  Yes you can get your site set up on the “wordpress.com” URL we assign the site at time of creation and connect your GoDaddy domain when you are ready to launch it to the public.

  If you are ready to launch prior to 60 days (at which point you can transfer your domain) let us know. There is a way to “map” the domain traffic so even if the domain remains at GoDaddy your site can still use that custom address.
