If you decide to go with WordPressdotcom, you’ll want to register a free WordPressdotcom website at https://wordpress.com/start/site/ while logged in to your account. You don’t need to fill out anything on the first page unless you want to and then hit the continue button.
Add a keyword on the next page, but DON’T add your custom domain name to this line. You’ll get a bunch of options with paid domain upgrades, just select the free option (may have a bunch of numbers added to the address unless you come up with a unique keyword), which may be below the top two suggestions.
