Can my account be deleted?

  I have no use for this account. I had left it inactive from 2009 – 2011 approximately but it was not deleted. I recently did become interested but I am dissatisfied with the limitations that WordPress poses on me (such as the inability to alter the layout code without a separate purchase).

  WordPress.com accounts are permanent, but you can easily delete your blog. Read more about this here:

  The second link says WordPress will delete my account if I leave it inactive but this never happened. I still want my account permanently deleted.

  We do not delete inactive account, the page merely mentions, “If you wish to leave WordPress.com, you can just leave your account inactive.”

  Since we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’t delete usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled). For more information, please see

  I do have a few suggestions for you if you really want to scrub the account:

  1) You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

  2) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

  Thank you. This resolves my question and I will do as you suggested.
  But if in the future WordPress does decide to delete accounts I hope that they will remember this account as one to be deleted.
