can one delete the media library?

I’d like to reduce the # of photos in the library because I mistakenly doubled and tripled some of them and I added unedited files which were subsequently edited. (there should be less than 200 photos there, not 400). I tried to just empty it all but the website rejected my request.

If you delete images from your Media Library ie. remove them from WordPress.com servers, then they will not be displayed in the posts and/or pages you embedded them into.

Yes you can delete them one at a time but do make sure you are cautious when you do so. Embedded images are attachments to posts and pages and if you embedded them they will disappear.

Sure. If you delete it, though, it is gone from your blog posts as well as your media library, as TT explained.

As I said above, If there are images embedded in either Pages or Posts they will disappear if you delete them from the Media Library.

I’m sorry there is no easy way for you to do this. I presize and optimize every image offline and then upload it.
