Can or cannot include thrid-party ads on blogs hosted OFF of WordPress?
-
I’m trying to figure this out, and I think I get it but I just have one question: The support page says that you cannot include third-party ads (such as AdSense) on your blog, then lists how you can have ads on your blog. The second suggestion states, “You can run any ads you’d like if you manage your own WordPress installation. More info, including hosting recommendations, can be found at get.wp.com.”
Does the phrase “any ads you’d like” include third-party ads such as AdSense? I would assume so, since it says third-party ads are not allowed on WordPress.com, and the blog would not be hosted on WordPress.com but on an outside host. This seems obvious, but I want to double check before doing anything which might get me in trouble.

If you move hosting off site from WordPress.COM to say Godaddy or HostGator you are no longer governed by WordPress.COM Terms of Service – however ALL web hosts have their own terms of service that you need to abide by so you need to check with a perspective host for the rules – generally you can run most but not all ads – depends on the host

Thank you very much. I’m aware that I will also need to check on the host’s ToS, but I doubt WP support could help me with that, haha!
Also, you specify WordPress.COM. WordPress.ORG is just the site where I get the downloads for hosting on a third-party host like GoDaddy, correct?

Correct
WordPress.ORG is the keeper of the WordPress software
You can also find Themes and Plugin’s at WordPress.ORG as well as a support forum
