can use purchase a private domain without the premium package?

    Do I need to add the $18 feature to a premium package to get a private domain? Currently, the domain is mitchdeanbaseball.wordpress.com and I would like it to be mitchdeanbaseball.com. I activated the trial, which ends tomorrow, but don’t understand if the domain will switch to private and drop the ‘wordpres’ or if I need to do something more. I did find where I can pay $18 to drop ‘wordpress’.

    Hi there,

    You can go to the Domains page to register a custom domain like mitchdeanbaseball.com for your WordPress.com site. That domain will replace your free address mitchdeanbaseball.wordpress.com.

    If you keep the Premium plan for your site, you can register that custom domain with the free domain credit included in the plan. If you decide not to keep that Premium plan, you can still register that custom domain and pay for it separately from that same page.
