Can we change ad types?

  Ads are popping up in the content of my website, which features third-party content (who have not consented to these advertisements in their work). I am fine with banner or sidebar ads on my website, but these word ads are intrusive and misdirect readers. Is there anyway to switch to a more preferred ad display or service sanctioned by WordPress?

  Third-party content might be the incorrect term, so I’ll clarify. My website displays a literary magazine, and our contributors’ work is highly personal and we try to keep their work as original as possible. The ads in the work we have been given permission to publish are extremely unprofessional, and we just want to have the regular banner or sidebar ads instead of intruding on their work.
