Can you map a domain that is only parked and not hosted?

  I am marginally confused.

  I’ve been using my domain strictly for email via Go Daddy. So, I’m sure it doesn’t show up on the DNS. Question is, if I upgrade with WordPress and choose to use the domain I already own, will it work? Or do I need to get Go Daddy to throw my domain on a server and give it a DNS address first?

  Here’s how you can map an already existing domain name to your WordPress.com website: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ This is a paid upgrade.

  But be warned that in order to continue receiving your email on that same domain name, you will have to configure the DNS servers in the domain dashboard here. (Link to info in the above Support doc).
