  Hi there,
  I don’t need this domain any longer so you can please cancel it (I know I won’t be refunded.)

  Also, please confirm that you have removed me from mailing lists and will stop selling my name to direct mail companies. What a bummer that I’m now getting junk mail linked to this domain.

  Do you mean you want to cancel this domain:

  I can do that for you, however you should be aware that canceling a domain means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.

  As for the mailing lists, we don’t sell email addresses to anyone. But I do see that you did not purchase private registration, which means that your contact details are publicly associated with your domain through whois records:

  Hello,
  First apologies for sending this via forum when all I intended was email support. Second, yes, I’d like to forever part with this domain as our group changed its name and isn’t pursuing a web presence anyway.
  Finally, apologies for the false accusation on direct mail. Can you help me figure out how to remove my contact information from whois?

  Alright! I just cancelled that domain for you.

  The whois information should clear out as the cancelation process goes through. Various whois sites sometimes offer ways for you to remove your listing for a fee, but it’s really not worth it especially at this point.

  Hopefully you haven’t been too inundated with spam emails! If you have a new domain now, I would highly suggest purchasing private registration. This puts proxy information in as the registrant contact information. You can see this in action on my domain here:
