Cancel Domain Mapping

Hi. I have a wordpress.com blog. But I needed to be able to host interactive files, so I signed up for bluehost. I installed a version of wordpress on bluehost and exported my wordpress.com blog, and imported it there. Do i need to cancel the domain mapping i had on my wordpress.com blog? Because right now. I can’t get to the bluehost files on a browser. I think it’s just sending it back to my old blog?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You need to change your nameservers to point your domain to your bluehost site. You would do this through your domain registrar.

Thanks. It’s working now. But I have one more question:

Before, I had my domain registered with Netfirms, and my blog on WordPress.com. In order to use the domain with the blog, I purchased domain mapping for $13 from WordPress.com.

Now, I still have my domain registered with Netfirms, but I have purchased hosting through Bluehost, installed a WordPress.ORG installation there, and migrated my WordPress.COM site there.

So my question is. Is there any need for me to retain that domain mapping on WordPress.COM

    Thanks!

  • In that situation, you do not need to have domain mapping at WordPress.com.

Great. Thank you. I just wanted to be sure before turning it off. Appreciate it!
