Cancel domain name

I need to cancel a domain (gvmblog.com). After already setting up my wordpress.com account, I realized I needed to be using wordpress.org. I am still using the free trial of wordpress.com, but have been unsuccessful in canceling my domain.

I would encourage you not to cancel your domain name. Canceling a domain runs a very real risk of losing control of that domain forever.

Once it has been 60 days from the date of registration, you can also transfer your domain to a new registrar:

I understand this risk. Because I just registered this domain last week, I cannot transfer it to my new registrar as it hasn’t been 60 days. Please just cancel the domain and I will then immediately set it up with my new host.

It may take weeks before a canceled domain is released to be registered again.
I really would encourage you to use these instructions to point your WordPress.com registered domain to your new webhost rather than canceling:
That having been said, I can cancel it if you insist. It is just that I have seen far too many people in your situation have to deal with a real headache because they canceled instead of just pointing their domain to a new host.
