  I would like to know how to cancel my free trial but I can’t figure out how to do so

  You only created this WordPress.com account 15 minutes ago. To the best of my knowledge there are no free trials currently available here. What is the full address of your site? Perhaps you signed up with some other company which offers sites using the WordPress.org software such as BlueHost?
